CMS Web Design

Since the advent of Content Management Systems website owners are no longer at the mercy of a web developer. However, it is still true that most people will need someone to set up their CMS website. Naturally, once the set up is done all updates can be managed by the owner.

Finally freedom from programmers!

There is no reason to settle for basic web design. In that case, you always need to go back to a designer for any updates. In fact, even the simplest updates would have needed to be done for you at some hourly rate.
We have so many options and some are better than others for a particular purpose. For instance, the Content Management System simply means that a database is connected to the website.  As a result, this allows the owner to add pages. Also, images, videos, and edits can be done without any programming skills. For example, the owner would use the admin to create a new page. Additionally, some text and pictures can easily be added. Lastly, the owner clicks the “Update” button and that new content will appear on the live website instantly.  Many CMS projects make use of MySQL as the database and more complex systems will use MS SQL.

No Training Needed

Being able to use a Content Management System to edit your website without the help of a programmer, is the main reason people love to have a CMS website.  Plus, we have seen programmers, that sell training by the hour. However, you shouldn’t get a CMS and then have to pay to learn how it works. Also, we can say with certainty that this is the type of CMS web design you won’t want.  In fact, it should be so easy to use that no training is required. Also, if you know how to send an email you will know how to operate our CMS with ease.

e-commerce Web Design

Your content may include text, pictures, videos, and products. Also, be formed so that people fill out a form for a free price quote.  You may be surprised to see “products” listed above. However, every e-commerce web design is a CMS web design with a shopping cart. In fact, just about everything on the site should be editable from the backend.  Also, it is important to discuss all the functions that you’d need. This way, it can be determined if there is a ready-made solution that does exactly what you want. If not, then custom development will be required.  Also, it is always important to be easy to use.  Additionally, programmers are not the same as designers. Consequently, programmers can develop some very robust features. As a result, they almost require a college degree for the end user to operate.  For instance, we have had clients tell us they got tired of paying for training lessons to learn how to use what they bought.

Web Design Since 1995

We have years of experience and this has helped us to see where people make mistakes online.  For example, if you have an online form and people get confused they may just decide to go elsewhere.  Of course, we have to accept the fact that some people going to your website just purchased their first smartphone. As a result, they are now viewing your site with that new phone.  For that reason, everything has to be simple and clear instructions need to be provided. For example, you may have no problem at all filling out a form online or buying products online. However, it is important to remember that you are not your customer.  As a result, we don’t know what level of online experience your typical customer has. For that reason, it is critical to keep everything simple!

You may have seen CMS websites that brag about their famous customer base which may include some Fortune 500 corporations.  However, this is not a valid reason why your business needs this same Content Management System.  After all, the open source and other systems out there have a huge fan base. Also, they all offer a lot of themes to select from. Additionally, they all have great extensions or plugins that can be added. As a result, they extend the functionality of your website.

In the end, you may get one type or the other only because you hired a certain company.  For instance, if that company just happens to do a lot of work using Drupal then don’t expect them to recommend a WordPress  CMS web design. Conversely, if they have extensive experience with Joomla then maybe they don’t do much custom programming in ASP or ASP/.Net.

Plenty of CMS Options

Things become more confusing when you find that there are so many extensions and plugins. Also, they may have similar names and perform similar functions.  As a result, how will you ever figure out which ones are the best ones to use? In fact, sometimes these big name open source CMS brands that we’ve all heard of can be like that, confusing. For instance, they may be full of options and you’d need to do a lot of research to find the best ones.
You may go so far as to contact the administrators of websites that use a CMS that you are considering.  For instance, if you are a lawyer and want a website where you can list the type of legal services you provide then contacting administrators of other sites would be serious overkill.  For example, they would all allow you to easily add a description of the services you provide.

Custom Programming

Occasionally we are hired to fix a website that was built in-house by the IT department.  Consequently, the website will usually have awesome features. For instance, a display of the current time and date in a prominent place.  For some reason, the IT department is very concerned about things like that.  In fact, this is the reason our company has designers. Additionally, our designers are only allowed to make design decisions. Plus, our programmers are only allowed to work on the functions. This is because they are two totally different personality types.

Of course, maybe not everyone in the IT department has a pocket protector.  Plus, not every designer has an earring in at least one location other than their ear. However, the fact remains that they are very different personality types. Additionally, unattended designers will make beautiful things and forget your logo. Also, programmers will make the logo take up the entire page.  For that reason, we have a full team working on every project to ensure that it all turns out as it should.
